Suicide Near Ames

J. L. Niswander, a prominent and successful farmer and truck-gardener just northeast of Ames, committed suicide Saturday afternoon by taking poison in his barn. He had been to town, where he procured his stuff, and after returning home, taking care of his team and delivering some packages at the house he returned to the barn and soon after his cries called his family and neighbors. A physician was called but treatment was ineffectual. The deceased was in his latter 50s and was man who had very little apparent reason for discouragement.
