Thomas Oxly

Thomas Oxley died on Sunday afternoon after suffering for along time with dropsy of the heart. The funeral was held in the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon and was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Oxley was an old resident of Maxwell and to know him was to love him. He was an earnest conscientious christian, and died with the words on his lips "I am going home to Heaven." Those who are so greatly bereaved are a wife, several children and grandchildren besides many relatives and friends. Mrs. Sylvia Davis came down from Boone on Saturday, to attend the funeral of her grand-father. Several relatives from a distance also were in attendance.
