OBITUARY
Death of Mrs. Justus Rhoades
The death is reported from Denver of Mrs. Justus Rhoades in her 66th year. It does not appear that Mrs. Rhoades ever lived in Nevada; but she married into a family that was most intimately identified with Nevada, and through them she was known here to not few of the old-timers. The Rhoades family came to Story county before the civil war, lived for a time in Lafayette township but located finally in Nevada, where the father of the family was killed by a fall from a building on which he was working as a carpenter. "Jut" Rhoades, as he was called, was one of the sons, and he started in the printing trade in the Representative office and after the war went to Des Moines and became engaged on the State Register. There he met and married Miss Augusta Hemingway, who was a native of Pennsylvania. Later they removed to Jefferson, where for many years he was identified with the Jefferson Bee, and finally they located in Denver, where Mr. Rhoades still a printer and publisher died about three years ago. Since his death Mrs. Rhoades has lived with her children, and now she has followed her husband.
