From Fredergill Family Funeral Home obituary, Collins and Zearing, Story County, Iowa:

Maxine C. Lundy, 92, of Zearing, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Zearing Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zearing Christian Church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Maxine Carol (Remer) Lundy, was born in LeMars, IA, in 1924, & grew up with her parents and younger sister Shirley (Remer) Kennedy on a farm outside LeMars. She went to country school through 8th grade & then graduated from LeMars High School in 1942. She received a BBA in business from the University of Iowa in 1947. She married Gordon Lundy on June 14, 1947, & made a home & family outside Zearing all her remaining years until just recently. Her love of playing piano/organ resulted in her being the Zearing Christian Church organist for 68 years. She was also a journalist & typist for the Nevada Journal and Zearing News.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gordon Lundy, in 2002.

She is survived by her four daughters: Eileen (John) Mercuris (Prairie City, IA), Ruth Mary (Tim) Monroe (Laramie, WY), Jane (John) Palacios (Pflugerville, TX), and Margaret (John) Coonan (Sturgeon Bay, WI), eight grandchildren: Matthew (Theresa) Monroe of Richland, WA; Rebekah (Dan) Cross of Ft. Worth, TX; Ben (Kate) Monroe of Brooklyn, NY; Briana Coonan of Chicago, IL; Caitlin Coonan of Aptos, CA; Ryan Coonan of San Francisco, CA; Allison (Chris) Pendroy of Urbandale, IA; Peter Mercuris of Urbandale, IA; and seven great grandchildren: Julianna & Sabrina Monroe, Kate Monroe, Noelle & Lillie Mae & Rhea Pendroy, Easton Mercuris.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Fredregill Funeral Home, in Zearing, has been entrusted with the care of Maxine and her family.
