Death OF J. K. Macomber

J. K. Macomber, the well-known Des Moines attorney and once a professor at the State College at Ames died Monday evening at his home in Des Moines after a brief illness and from causes that appear not to be well understood. he was ailing Saturday, was not so well Sunday, did not get up Monday morning, was in critical condition by the close of the day and died in the evening. Mrs. Macomber left a few weeks ago on a foreign trip and is now in Italy, whence she has been summoned home. The children or several of them, were however, with their father at the time of his death. Mr. Macomber was a member of the first graduating class from the Iowa Agricultural College, and Mrs. Macomber, who was then Miss Mattie Locke, was a member of the same class. Afterwards he was for several years a member fo the faculty; but in the '80s left the college and removed to Des Moines for the practice of law, in which for past twenty-five years he had been successfully engaged. He was widely known and universally esteemed, and his death is a shock to a great number of friends throughout this portion of the state.
