OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. Elmore

A telegram from Washington City yesterday morning advise Mr. and Mrs. James C. Mason of the death of their daughter Grace, Mrs. E. A. Elmore. Details are yet lacking and they were not aware that she was sick. She had been with Mr. Elmore for several years in Washington, where he had been holding a government position, and she remained there when he was at home during the fall. She was almost 35 years of age, had lived always in or near Nevada and had been married to Mr. Elmore for a dozen or thirteen years. Her death is a great shock to her friends at home.

Was a Case of Suicide

Further advices concerning the death of Mrs. Grace Elmore on January 31 in Washington City, are the effect that she died from a dose of arsenic, taken with suicidal intent. Her statement before death was that she had procured the arsenic when she was home in Iowa, which was about three years ago, and she finally took it when she had a further spell of despondency. Neither in the letter received nor in the report in the Washington papers does there appear any reason for her despondent state of mind, and the surprise at her action is equal to the regret. At her request she was buried in Greenwood cemetery at Washington.
