Dr. H. D. Chamberlin of this city has been advised of the death of his father, John A. Chamberlin, at Grand Isle, Vermont. The senior Chamberlin was born at that same place on June 20, 1818, lived there all his life and died on December 1, 1909, at the great age of 91 years, 5 months and 11 days. His death then was the result of a cold which he caught while shoveling snow on Thanksgiving day. His ninetieth birthday was celebrated with much enthusiasm in June of last year, on which occasion all his surviving children and numerous grandchildren were present. Mr. Chamberlin was married May 8, 1854, and his wife died in 1893. They had five children of whom three sons survive, Dr. Chamberlin at Nevada, another son at Toledo, Ohio, and the third on the old farm in Vermont. Mr. Chamberlin was a visitor here with his son for several weeks in the spring and summer of 1894, and many friends whom he made then will remember him most pleasantly.
