Death of John W. Will

John W. Will, long one of the best known citizens of Indian Creek township died on Tuesday at Marshalltown, his demise following but a few weeks after that of his wife. The event is reported by the Marshalltown Times-Republican as follows:

John W. Will, an old resident of Story county, where he was especially well known, died suddenly at 12:15 today at his home here of heart disease. Mr. Will has just finished his dinner, and while sitting on the edge of the bed fell to the floor dead. Mr. Will has been an invalid for twenty years, due to locomotor ataxia. His wife, Mrs. Hattie Will, died on September 4th.

Mr. Will was pioneer of Story county, living at Iowa Center for fifty-seven years. He was born in Shenandoah, W. Va. December 1, 1843, and came to Iowa when eight years old. He was married at Iowa Center to Miss Sina Maxwell, who died four month later. About the same time occurred the death of Charles B. Maxwell, of Iowa Center, a brother of Mrs. Will, and two years later or twenty-eight years ago last June, Mr. Will and Mrs. Maxwell were married. They continued to reside at Iowa Center until ten years ago, when they moved to Grinnell. Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Will moved to this city.

Mr. Will is survived by two children, Leon Will and Miss Ina Will, of this city. The latter is a kindergartner in the Click school. A stepdaughter, Mrs. George F. Thayer, lives is this city, and a stepson, Edward H. Maxwell, resides in Chicago. Mr. Will is also survived by his aged father, James Will of Maxwell, who is ninety-one years old, and by three brothers and one sister. The brothers are Dr. F. J. Will, of Des Moines, Dr. Harry Will of Chicago, and Lee Will, of Salina, Kan. The sister is Mrs. Jesse Bowen, of Maxwell.

Mr. Will was a member of the Masonic fraternity and held his membership at Maxwell. The body will be taken to Iowa Center for interment and the funeral will be held there at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, in charge of Rev. J. E. Stauffacher, of Cedar Rapids. Burial will be with Masonic honors.
