Shirley Lou Holland, 88, of Collins, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in Ames.

Shirley was born February 29, 1928, at home in Grant Township, Story County, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Sarah Jane (Smith) Andrew. She graduated from Colo High School in 1945 and was united in marriage to Gordon Eugene Holland on January 22, 1949, in Colo. To this union three children were born. Shirley was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and watching her grandchildren and favorite sports teams. Shirley was a lifelong friend to many.

Shirley is survived by her son, Steven (Maryanne) Holland of Ames; her daughters: Mickey (Terry) Vande Kamp of Van Meter and Jodee (Gary) Kratz of Farmington, MN; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Holland of Ankeny; and her brother-in-law, Phillip (Marilyn) Holland of Iowa City.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers: Francis “Harold”, Carl, John C., Richard “Dick”, Galen and Donald Andrew; and two sisters: Margaret Lloyd and Betty Abrahamsen.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 11 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins with burial to follow at Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Hospice in memory of Shirley.
