Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Mary Ann Anderson, daughter of Sheridan and Marguerite (Peterson) Grunsted, was born on May 8, 1929 in Madrid, Iowa. She was raised on a farm in the Madrid-Slater area before relocating to Roland in the fourth grade. By the time she was in tenth grade, the family had moved to a farm between Roland and McCallsburg. In 1947, Mary Ann graduated from McCallsburg High School. On August 21, 1948, she married Orvis T. Anderson at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland and, shortly after, joined Bergen Lutheran Church where she was a member for 68 years.

Mary Ann owned and operated the Blue Onion Tearoom and met some wonderful people throughout the years. Her favorite saying was, “Live for today because you don’t know what tomorrow brings.” She was a very active member in her church and community, some being the Altar Guild, Sunday school teacher, Church Council, Quilts for the Church, Wa Tan Ye, Legion Auxiliary, RADC, Bridge Club, Friends and Service, and many more.

Mary Ann is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Marlin) Klehm of Clarion and Ann Lorenger of Roland; her two sons, Scott (Cindy) Anderson of McCallsburg and Steve (Debbie) Anderson of Mesa, Arizona; eleven grandchildren, Cory (Shawn) Klehm, Kevin Klehm, Christina (Cody) Freeman, Sara (Daniel) Robinson, Keith Anderson, Eric (Jennifer) Anderson, Michael Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Jessica Wisdom, Kelsey Castellano and Elizabeth Castellano; fourteen great-grandchildren, Corynn, Reese, Khai, Brandon, Benjamin, Luke, Thor, Myra, Zane, Anderson, Evah Marie, Hannah, Keenan and Brayden; and her sister, Beverly Stole.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sheridan and Marguerite Grunsted; her husband of 59˝ years, Orvis T. Anderson; her son, Timothy J. Anderson; her son-in-law, Thomas W. Lorenger; three brothers, Paul, Gene, and John Grunsted; and four sisters, Virginia Kay, Marjorie Chamberlain, Betty Ragee and Sherry McDonald.
