OBITUARY

DEATH OF PETER BAKER

Peter Baker, for many years a resident of Nevada, died at Spencer, Iowa, June 20, 1909, aged 82 years, 10 months and 16 days. He was born July 4, 1856*, near Frankfort, Germany and came to this country at the age of fourteen. He was married to Miss Mary A. Strode at Monmouth, Ill., Oct. 7, 1847. He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. R. S. Satterlee of Iowa Falls, Mr. L. F. Baker of Spencer, D. Baker of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. M. E. Golding of Council Bluffs; also eleven grand-children. Being a miller by trade he was widely known throughout this state and the state of Illinois. He served three years in the civil war. The funeral services will be held at the Baptist church, Spencer, Tuesday at 2 p. m. and the sermon will be delivered by Rev. Day of the Congregational church assisted by Rev. Carrol, pastor of the church. Closing services by the G. A. R. Post of that city.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: This birth date is incorrect. If Peter Baker died on June 20, 1909, according to the age given, he would have been born August 4, 1826.
