Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Violet Lorraine (Bartholomew) Love, 91, of Ankeny (formerly of Ames) passed away October 9, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am , Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) in Ankeny. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Carlisle, Iowa.

Lorraine was born October 28, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Gladys (Barr) Bartholomew. She grew up in Carlisle, Iowa and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1942. She married Robert Love in 1946 and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. In retirement, she and Bob visited all 50 states, Europe, North Africa and the Caribbean. They also spent thirteen winters in Arizona.

Survivors include son David (Diane) Love of Parker, CO, daughter Linda (Pierce) Welch of Ankeny, IA, five grandchildren Brian (Amye) Love, Stephanie (Keith) Burton, Jason (Jenica) Welch, Christine (David) Ryburn, and Adam (Kristi) Welch, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Phyllis Randleman and brother Don (Dora) Bartholomew, both of Carlisle, IA, sister-in-law Mildred Love, brothers-in-law Glenn Love and Russell Pisle, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
