A Double Funeral; Mother and Son Buried Together

William Elmer Augustus Knott who lived 3 miles west of Zearing died last Sunday morning at 10 a. m. after a short illness. He was born in N. C. on Sept. 3, 1878. At the time of his death he was 35 years, 6 months and 5 days. On April 28, 1905 he was united in marriage to Cornelia Cozens at Davenville, Ill. From there they moved to Union, and two years ago he moved on the farm where he died. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure a wife, two sons and two daughters, a father, sister and three brothers.

His mother came to nurse him in his illness, but the day after her arrival she took sick, and a on Tuesday morning she passed away. Pneumonia did the work in both cases. Mrs. Eliza Knott ws born also in N. C. She was 67 years, 10 months and 14 days old. She left a husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mansfields of McCallsburg, three sons, Sanford P. and Ham of Eldora, Iowa, and Richard N. of Union, Ia. The funeral service was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. H. Johnson of Colo officiated. Interment was mad at Union on Wednesday.
