OBITUARY

Death of T. J. Pollock.

Thos. J. Pollock, banker and widely known citizen of Zearing died at his home here about nine-thirty Wednesday evening after a protracted illness which had its beginning in typhoid fever. He was taken sick in September and spent about two months in the hospital at Hampton. About a month ago he was brought home; but he made little progress toward recovery, and his decease is not a matter of surprise to those who were at all advised of his condition.

Mr. Pollock was born at Wallworth, in Wisconsin, June 26, 1842, and died as stated at Zearing, Iowa, December 11, 1912, aged 70 years, 5 months and 15 days. He served as a young man in the 28th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, and he was married in February, 1864, to Miss Martha Renney, who with three of their sons survives him. These sons are Thos. E. of Flagstaff, Arizona, Robert R. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and W. A. of Plymouth, Iowa. One other son was accidentally killed in a railway wreck after growing up, and two daughters died in infancy. Mr. Pollock lived for a number of years at Iowa Falls but removed to Zearing in 1895 and established there the bank which he continued to manage so long as he was able to attend to business at all He was very capable business man and a very useful and much esteemed citizen. His circle of acquaintance was large and the estimation in which he was held was high. His demise is very much regretted.

The funeral will be conducted from his late residence in Zearing at one o'clock Saturday and his interment will be in the new mausoleum at Zearing.
