TWO DEATHS IN FAMILY

A. O. and Peter P. Peterson, brothers, died Thursday

A. O. Peterson, age 54 years, died at his home in Boone Thursday morning, March 11, after being ill for several weeks. Mr. Peterson was well known in this community and especially so to the older residents. For a number of years he conducted a store at Rosendale. His wife, who survives him is a sister of Mrs. B. A. Rasmussen of this place.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at Boone conducted by Rev. Duea of Slater and Rev. Randolph of Boone.

OBITUARY

A. O. Peterson

Anfin Olai Peterson was born near Clinton, Iowa, April 19 1865. When he was two years of age hia parents moved to Roland. In 1875 they moved to Story City where he as a boy worked on the farm. Later he studied at Humbolt College at Algona; later at Highland Park College and Drake University in Des Monies. It was at Drake he studied law and could have been admitted to the bar had he desired. At first he taught school and later in 1898 started out on a business career, first near Story City and later in Rosendale where he conducted a general merchandise store and sold implements and almost everything that was needed in a farming community. He moved to Kelley in 1915 to live on a farm near that town, but sold the farm and moved to Boone December 31, 1916.

He was married twice, the first time in 1894. To this marriage three children were born. In 1904 he was married to Victoria Bramsen. To them were born five children.

His parents being good Norwegian Lutherans had him bapazed in infancy and he became in :his way a member of the church. He was confirmed in Story City and assumed then the responsibility which before to a great extent rested upon his sponsors. He was at the time of his death a member of the Bethany Norwegian Lutheran church at Kelley.

He died March 10 at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 21 days. He is survived and mourned by his widow, Mrs. Victoria Peterson, eight children and other relatives and many friends. The children are Francis, Herman, Selma, Lillian, Amanda, Edwin, Conrad and Joy. The oldest,Mrs. John Seiberling of Mitchellville, Iowa, not being well, could lot be present at the funeral.

The following account of Mr. Peterson's funeral is taken from the Boone News-Republican.

The funeral of the late A. O. Peterson was held from the residence at 932 Fifth street Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. C. A. Randolph read from the Scriptures. Rev. E. Duea of the Norwegian Lutheran church at Slater sang a solo. Rev. Duea preached in the Norwegian language from Psalms 37:5. Miss Mary Johnson sang "We Shall Sleep But Not Forever" accompanied by Mrs. C. A. Randolph.

The services were continued at the Augustana Lutheran church. Here the Rev. E. Duea preached in English from Luke 10:42. Rev. C. A. Randolph spoke on I Thessalonians 4:13. Misses Mary Johnson and Hazel Erickson and C. C. Olson and Harold Thorson sang "Gates Ajar" and "Abide With Me." Miss Johnson sang a solo, "Jesus Is Calling You." The pallbearers were Lewis Stensland, O. H. Olson, John L. Atrait, Theodore Thompson, Geo. Hauge and Walter Dyer. Interment was at the Linwood cemetery.

The deceased had not lived in this city for a great length of time but he made many friends and acquaintances during his brief stay here. In the communities where he lived he was recognized and respected as a man of Christian character and sterling worth. He was followed in death within a few hours by his brother Peter, of Graettinger.
