Obituary from Iles Funeral Homes, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.

Jeanette (Barker) Borders, 92, passed away on June 11, 2016. She was born on August 4, 1923 in Nevada and was a 1940 graduate of Shipley High School. She lived most of her adult life in Des Moines, retiring in Collins in 1983 until 2004 when she moved to West Des Moines.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Slyvia (Hemstock) Barker; husband, Marvin Thompson; second husband, Glen Borders; siblings, Howard, Kenny & Loren Barker & Lois Thornton; daughter, Sheryl Thompson; great grandson, Layton Ensign.

She is survived by siblings, Larry Barker (Alma) & Martha Collins (Bob); son, Randy Thompson (Vickie); stepdaughter, Yvonne Mikel (George); grandchildren, Tim Thompson (Pam), Amy Thielking (Ed) & Mindy Ensign (Derik); great grandchildren, Ben, Cami, Cohen, Macklynn, Maelynn, Conner, Cameron & Landon.

Jeanette will be remembered as a loving grandma who loved Scrabble, college basketball, traveling, cross-stitching & her Cocker Spaniels.
