Obituary From Boeke Funeral Homes, Hardin County, Iowa.

Brian S. Braymen, 60, of New Providence, IA, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016.

He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Barbara Braymen, the 2nd of four boys. The family moved to Ames, when Brian was in 2nd grade. He married Ruth Duncan in 1979 and to this marriage was born one son, Ben.

Brian served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer right out of High School and spent the remainder of his career in the Ames Police Department where he retired as sergeant in 2010.

It was important to Brian, that he have a piece of land to call his own. He felt that his farm was God's gift to him so he could enjoy nature. He looked forward to hunting squirrels, pheasant, wild turkey, ducks, and deer. Hunting was a family event as he was usually joined by Ruth and Ben. The family reaped the benefits with Brian's culinary skills. He liked to share army stories and hunting adventures with family and friends.

Brian is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Ben, of Ames, IA; father, Donald, of Ames, IA; brother Craig (Bonnie) Braymen of Baldwin, WI; Steve (Karen) Braymen of Ames, IA; and Sheila Braymen Coleman of Omaha, NE. In-Laws include Royle (Jo) Duncan, Alden, IA; and Reva (Greg) Merchant of Little Elm, TX; and numerous Braymen and Duncan nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara and brother, Doug.

To share his love of hunting, memorials may be given to the Iowa Hunter Education Instructor Association (IHEIA) to be used specifically to get youth started in hunting and to assist them on their first deer hunt.
