A Celebration of Life Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Dorothy Jean Small was born March 17, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Lyle and Edna (Strange) Small. She grew up in Marshalltown where she received her education. Following graduation, Dorothy worked part time while raising her daughters. From 1978 to 1983, she took a position as an ER clerk and dispatcher at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

On September 4, 1982, Dorothy was united in marriage to Clint Eugene Morrison. The couple made their home in Ames while Dorothy continued her career in the Laboratory at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Dorothy's mission in life was to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She displayed that by hosting many family dinners, baking her famous brownies, and always creating a welcoming home open to anyone. Dorothy also enjoyed trips with her family to Duluth, Minnesota to visit Split Rock Lighthouse and Glensheen Mansion, traveling "Out East," listening to Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, going out to eat, and shopping. Most of all, Dorothy treasured time spent with Clint, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her husband of 33 years, Clint; children, Deb (Ron) Rush, Sandy (Ken) Latuska, Ann (Brian) Brennecke, Erin Sheehy, and Brad Erlewine; sister, Kathleen Hoffman; adopted sister and best friend, Joanne Curley; adopted brother and friend, Brian Krumm; grandchildren, Dustin, Andrew, Christy, Nicole, Zak, Ashlee, Katie, Cassie, Stephon, Stacia, Bailey, Amanda, Olivia, and Brianna; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Calleigh, Guin, Lilah, Brantley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Edna Small; mother-in-law, Lucille Morrison; siblings, Harold Small and Mary Paxson; baby sister Small; brothers-in-law, Eddy Paxson, Jerome Hoffman, and Kenneth "Chiefy" Johnson; and niece, Susan Costello.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Dorothy's family for a memorial bench to be placed near Split Rock Lighthouse.
