The following was taken from The West Chicago Press: "A. D. Bartlett died in St. Charles hospital at Aurora, Ill., Tuesday noon October 20, 1914. He was taken to his bed four weeks ago. His condition grew steadily worse and Saturday of last week it was deemed necessary to remove him to the hospital for an operation. He was taken to Aurora but upon examination it was found that it was of avail to operate.
Almos D. Bartlett was born in Colo, Iowa, February 25, 1859. At the age of seventeen be came to West Chicago and entered the employ of the C. & S. W. railroad company as passenger brakeman. He was later appointed ticket agent there which position he held for ten years and twenty four years ago he was transferred to Chicago. He served there in several different capacities the last being in the information bureau in the terminal. In his position few could take his place. During the past ten years of more his health was very poor but he stuck to his post and seldom missed a day until fatal illness overtook him. He was married twice his first wife dying in 1892. She bore him two children, one died in infancy and the other Mrs. Lawrence Felton survives him. Sept. 11, 1895 he was married to Cora Fitch and one child, Edith, was born to this union. He leaves to mourn the passing of a devoted father and husband, his wife, two daughters, one step son, Elbert Fitch, and one brother A. W. Bartlett of Ordway, Colorado. The funeral will be held at the late residence, Friday afternoon, Rev. I. A. Harl officiating and the remains will be laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
