Sylvia Doolittle, 102, of Story City, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Bethany Manor. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery, rural Story City.

Sylvia Pauline Doolittle was born on Jan. 13, 1912, to Oscar S. and Maggie (Burke) Charlson in Hamilton County. She married Wesley Doolittle on Aug. 19, 1942, in Bethany, Mo. Sylvia lived in the Story City area her entire life and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.

Sylvia is survived by one son, Mark (Cindy) Doolittle, of Boone; one daughter, Diane (Stephen) Holt, of Ellsworth; five grandchildren, Weston Barnes, Anna Pfaff, Aaron Holt, Jennifer Kay MacRunnel and Tera Lynn O’Brien; and six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Fox, Alison, Noah, Logan and Tessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley; one son, Steven Wendell Doolittle; six brothers, Carter Charlson, Earl Charlson, Herbert Charlson, Lyle Charlson, Orville Charlson and Billy Charlson; and one sister, Ethel Lenning.

Memorials may be designated to Grace United Methodist Church or the Sheffield Cemetery Association.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is assisting the family with arrangements.
