OBITUARY

Mrs. Gusta Doolittle

STORY CITY -- Mrs. Gusta Doolittle, daughter of Morton Johnson and Anna Matheason Johnson, was bor in Story county Feb. 27, 1880. She lived most of her life in the Story City community.

On Aug. 20, 1897, she was married to Ira Doolittle. They set up housekeeping on a farm. The couple had six children, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Doolittle died Nov. 13, 1937.

Mrs. Doolittle for many years, and at the time of her death, was a member of Grace Evangelical United Brethren church, Story City. She suffered with arthritis and in August, 1954, she moved to Tyron nursing home in Boone.

Her condition worsened and she died Sunday at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 10 days.

She is survived by five children--Irma (Mrs. Leonard Olson), Britt; Lester, Story City; Velma (Mrs. Sherman Larson), Roland; Clarence, Story City; and Gladys (Mrs. Harold Reece), Jewell. A brother, John Johnson, Story City; a sister, Mrs. Matilda Paulson, whom the Doolittles raised; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were Oct. 18 at Grace church with the Rev. W. D. Winter officiating. Fay Ann Larson, granddaughter of Mrs. Doolittle, sang and Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle played the organ. Burial was in Sheffield cemetery southeast of Story City. Pallbearers were Danny Olson, Dennis Doolittle, Delano Doolittle, Hubert Doolittle, Bill Reece and Darrell Larson.
