Memorial services for Bessie Mae (Betty) Brown, 96, of Temple, will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Brown passed away Monday, July 11, at her home in Temple.

Betty Brown was born April 7, 1920 in Stillwater, Minnesota to Willis Vernon Barber and Marjorie Cole Barber. She married Merlyn Duane Brown in Corpus Christi on January 27, 1945. Mr. & Mrs. Brown lived in Ames, Iowa and Carroll, Iowa prior to moving to Temple twelve years ago. She taught piano for many years. Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She spoiled her grandchildren and loved playing cards.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Duane Brown, and a granddaughter, Erin Richardson.

She is survived by her husband, Duane of Temple; daughters, Joan Ervin and husband George of Temple, Kathy Richardson and husband Scott of Carroll, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Holly Brown and husband John of Temple, Brian Corbin of Jonestown, David Corbin and wife Stacy of Temple, Steve Ervin of Copperas Cove, Matthew Ervin of Austin, Jeff Richardson of Chicago, Illinois, Michael Richardson of Carroll, Iowa, and twelve great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Betty's name may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2407 West Avenue P, Temple, Texas 76504.
