Dorothy Mareit Reese was born August 1, 1920 to Roy M. and Gertrude (Calvert) Young in Mitchell, Neb. Dorothy graduated in 1938 from Ames High School. Dorothy and Elroy Reese were married December 27, 1939 in Ames. She was the longest serving member at First United Methodist Church in Ames. Dorothy enjoyed bridge, traveling, and following the Cyclones.

Dorothy passed away at 95 years of age on June 22, 2016 at Northcrest Communities in Ames.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Mike (Judi) Reese of Ames and Cynthia (Mark) Allen of Montrose; her grandchildren, Jeff (Robert) Reese, Chris (Wayne) Reese, Jason (Karyn) Reese, Brad (Amy) Merschbrock, Mike (Raelyn) Merschbrock and Matt (Annie) Merschbrock; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lillian Sindel of Cannon City, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy; her granddaughter-in-law, Kathryn; her two brothers, Richard and David; and her son-in-law, Ron Merschbrock.

Memorials may be designated to First United Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg Ave., Ames, IA 50010.
