Delores "Dee" R. Jones, 86, of Nevada for the last 18 months and formely of Zearing, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Story County Medical Center: Senior Care in Nevada. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing. Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dakins Community Center, in Zearing, with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.
Delores was born on July 14 1930 in Melbourne to John and Rose Carmody. She was raised on a farm in the Zearing area. At the young age of 17 she fell in love with Wayne Jones, a handsome young sailor. Wayne and Delores were married on December 8, 1947. They farmed in the Zearing area and moved into town as the kids got older. Delores enjoyed watching her soap operas, westerns and loved family gatherings with rowdy card games. She also enjoyed gardening. She worked at Donnelly Corporation in Nevada as a typist; also at IVH for 15 years as a CMA, as well as assisting as the clerk for Wayne at his auctions.
Those left to cherish Delores's memories are two daughters, Jeanie Bigelow of Marshalltown and Becky Jones of Nevada. Daughter-in-law Marla Jones of Legrand. Six grandchildren Kelley (Bruce) Rook of Beaman; Holly (Mike) Leslie of Oxford Junction; Nicole (Chad) Smith of Prairie City; Jim Sundquist (Jennifer Matzke) of Ankeny; Katie Jones of Grinnell; and Kyle (Miranda) Jones of Story City; twelve great-grandchildren Sadie, Mya, Justice, Bubba, Taylor, Marshal, Maybelle, Jayden, Mya, Adian, AJ and Nevaeh; and many nieces and nephews.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband Wayne and three sons Dean, Bob and Bill.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is entrusted with the care of Delores and her family.
