Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Betty Arlene Hanson was born on January 28, 1922 to Bert and Bella (Olson) Arneson at their farm north of Roland. It was her parents that instilled in Betty the love of Jesus. Betty married Donald B. Hanson on April 25, 1943 at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Don died on January 4, 2006. Betty and Don were blessed with three sons, David, Steven and Donald. On December 6, 1964, David died from injuries in a car accident.

Betty loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing her faith with other people. She taught Sunday School at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland for 27 years. After Betty and Don moved to Story City, they transferred their membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Betty enjoyed Bible study, baking, and her family. With the help of grandson, Eric, she put together collection of advice and wisdom in a book called, “Tidbits But Not Pineapple”.

Betty passed away July 24, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at the age of 94.

Betty is survived by two sons, Steve (Mary) Hanson of Story City and Donald E. (Cindy) Hanson of Roland; 10 grandchildren, Eric (Leslie) Hanson, Sally (Jeremy) Haack, Justin (Katie) Hanson, Crystal (Brian Cook) Hanson, Karen (Ryan) Rosentrater, Mark (Jessica) Hanson, Laura (Dax) Atkinson, David (Tina) Hanson, Sarah (BJ) Schaben and Jennifer (Beau) Hindman; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Arneson of Tucson, Arizona; a brother-in-law, Richard Bergeson of Newton; and her sister-in-law, Delores Arneson of Jewell.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; her son, David; two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Rosentrater and Calvin Schaben; two brothers, Lawrence Arneson and Carroll Arneson; and her sister, Lola Bergeson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
