Colo Newspaper-Services for Ella Danskin Williams Held on Thursday.
Funeral services for the late Ella Danskin Williams was held Thrusday afternoon at the A.P. Henry home north of Colo (IA) with the Rev. Alfred Scneck officiating.
Pall bearers were A.P.Henry, Mark Wilson, Lloyd Lounsberry, William Lounsberry, Chas. Yeager, and M.R. McCoy. The ladies of the W.S.C.S. served dinner to the relatives at the Mark Wilson home.
Ella Danskin Williams was born at Colo, IA. Sept 19, 1875 and died in a Des Moines hospital June 10, 1947 at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 22 days. She attended school in Colo and in Nevada and graduated from Iowa Teachers College. She taught rural school in Sherman and New Albany townships. She was married to Frank E. Shaw March 19, 1902 at Los Angeles, CA. They spent some years on a farm in Dakota and later moved to Fairfax County, Virginia where Mr Shaw died on Jan 26, 1914.
On June 5, 1917, she was married to LaMont A. Williams at Manassas, VA and they made their home in Washington D.C until the spring of 1947 when Mrs Williams was taken seriously ill and was brought to Iowa where she was cared for until her death. All that loving hands could do was done for her. She passed away at 2:10 AM June 10th. She leaves to mourn her loss-her husband, LaMont A. Williamsm one step-daughter, Grace Richardson of Mt. Rainier, MD; one step-son, Harold W. Shaw of Chicago, IL; one sister, Mrs. C.B. Wilson of Colo, two nieces, Mrs. Agnes Henry of Colo, and Miss Alice Wilson of Des Moines, and one nephew, Mark Wilson of colo besides many relatives and friends.
Mrs Williams was always a friend to the needy and spent much time, energy and money to help them. She was converted at an early age and remained true to her Lord until her passing. At the time of her death she was a charter member of the Chevy Chase Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. She was a firm believer in tithing and stewardship and practiced her belief for many years.
Interment in Colo Cemetery, Colo, Story Co. IA.
