Obituary of Mrs. Berger

Julia Hartman was born in Germany Jan. 31, 1841 and died in Colo Dec. 9 1913. When 18 years of age she came to America and joined her two brothers and one sister at Hagerstown, Maryland where in 1867 she was united in marriage to John Berger. Seven children were born to them. Two boys and one girl passed from this life an an early age. Mr. and Mrs. Berger and children came to Colo in March 1877. They had not lived here long when Mr. Berger was strikcen with an incurable malady and Mrs. Berger was left to rear her young family alone. When quite young she united with the Lutheran church in Germany. After coming to this country she had her name transferred to the membership roll of the Lutheran church at Hagerstown, Maryland, where it has since remained as there was no church of her denomination here. Mrs. Berger was a kind and loving mother bearing the burdens of life bravely and cheerfully. She leaves to mourn her loss four daughters: Mrs. Maggie Berger, Mrs. Katie Wright and Miss Lizzie Berger of Colo and Mrs. Emma Hinecker of Macoun, Saskatchewan, Canada; one grandson Clarence Russell, one sister Mrs. Barbara Brooks of Ricerstown, Md., and one brother Wilford Hartman of Kansas, besides other relatives and numerous friends who extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Habliston assisted by Rev. G. H. Johnson, Saturday at 2:00 p. m. in the U. E. church. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery. Her children were all present. The one who lives in Canada arrived Friday noon.
