Larry "Tank" Dean Oliver was born on February 26, 1954 to Frank and Phyllis (Buche) Oliver in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Roland-Story High School in Story City. Larry served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, and then on the DMZ in Korea at the end of his military career. He was employed as a sanitation worker, construction worker, roofer, landscaper, and was a jack of many trades. On August 12, 1994, Larry married Tracey Moreland of Ames, and their daughter, Olivia, was born in 1995.

Larry passed away at 62 years of age on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Olivia of Ames; his mother, Phyllis Martens of Huxley; his brother, Ralph (Donna) Oliver of Cambridge; his sister, Jo Anne (Lupe) Lopez of Windsor, Colo.; his niece, Angie (Corey) Pratt of Fort Dodge; and his nephew, Anthony (Amy) Lopez of Cheyenne, Wyo. He is also survived by several great-nephews; a great-niece; step-nieces; plus numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Larry is joining his grandparents, Louis and Marie Buche, and Ralph and Ethel Oliver; his father, Frank Oliver; and his step-father, Ivan Martens.
