FORMER TEACHER DIED FRIDAY

Nevada friends and they are many, will be shocked to learn of the death on Friday at a hospital in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, of Mrs. W. A. Kise, nee Mabel Bancroft, a niece of Mrs. W. O. Payne* and a young lady who grew up in this community getting part of her education here and later teaching with splendid success in the primary grades of this city in the public school.

Mrs. Kise has been ill for some time with influenza contracted while caring for a neighbor who contracted the disease and it seems to have settled, at the base of the back of her head and while everything that medical science could do for her, was done, it was impossible to save her life.

As Mabel Bancroft, the young matron was extremely well known in this community where she and her sister Jessie grew up and Mrs. Kise taught in the local schools. Her marriage it will be recalled occurred on September 1st, 1917 on the lawn of the Payne homestead here, and since then the young couple have made their home at Swan, Iowa.

The sad news of her death arrived on Friday and the funeral is being held today at Swan her former home. An extended obituary will be printed in our next issue.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mrs. William Orson Payne was Jessie Dickins, daughter of William Dickens and Maria Ellen Gibson. Jessie (Dickens) Payne's sister was Mary Ellen (Dickens) Bancroft, the mother of Mabel (Bancroft) Kise.
