MRS. M. C. ALLEN DIES SUDDENLY

PROMINENT NEVADA WOMAN DIES AS SHE IS ABOUT TO PREPARE BREAKFAST THIS MORNING

Nevada, especially the older residents were shocked this morning to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Madison C. Allen who expired ast her home on Lincoln Way as she was about to prepare her husband's breakfast.

Mrs. Allen has been enjoying unusual good health for one of her years apparently, being in her seventy-third year and only last night called at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. F. Ambrose and seemed to be full of life and activity.

This morning she arose at the usual hour, leaving Mr. Allen who was not feeling well, in bed while she started to prepare the family meal. She went to the wood shed in the rear of the house and Mr. Allen not hearing her for some few minutes, arose and sent to see if anything had happened. He came upon her body and at once went to the telephone and called Dr. F. S. Smith the family physician, who rushed to the house. He was however too late to accomplish anything as she was dead when he arrived and probably expired instantly, from what he believes to be apoplexy.

As soon as possible, the children were notified ans as yet the funeral arrangements have not been made. Nor has there been an opportunity for an extended obituary, which will be given in this paper later.

Mrs. Allen is one of the older residents of Nevada and in her day was very active in the civic and religious life of the community, has been a devoted attendant of the Methodist church where she took a deep interest in all that took place.

Her maiden name was Miss Sarah Ann Beers, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Beers of London, Ohio. She was born on November 9, 1845 and when twenty years of age was married to Mr. Allen, fifty-three years ago. In October 1865 Mr. and Mrs. Allen moved to Nevada and have since resided here where Mr. Allen has attained unusual prominence in both public and private life. Mrs. Allen leaves four children, Jesse M. the wife of Harry A. Stutson of Dayton Ohio; Mamie L., the wife of B. F. Ambrose of this city, Arthur C., who is also a resident of Nevada and Mattie Louise the wife of C. A. Richardson of Berkeley, California.

MRS. M. C. ALLEN FUNERAL TUESDAY

The funeral of Mrs. M. C. Allen whose sudden death was told in the paper on Thursday will be held on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock instead of Monday as originally announced due to the fact that one daughter, Mrs. Jessie A. Stutson of Ohio, who was spending the summer in California, was unable to reach here in time, her train missing connections at Cheyenne, Wyoming.

All the other members of the family are here and the services tomorrow will be conducted from the home on Lincoln Way the services being in charge of Rev. W. E. Hardaway of Stuart, Ia., who was formerly the Methodist pastor here and a close friend of the deceased. The interment will be in the family plot at Nevada Cemetery.
