Obituary of Mrs. Nelson Perry Sr.

Elizabeth Ann Ward was born at Columbus, Ohio July 3, 1830. She was married to Nelson Perry Jan. 1st, 1857 at Hinckley, Ill. Five children were born to them, ten of whom are deceased. Mary died in 1861 and Frank in 1902. Mr. and Mrs. Perry and their family moved to Colo in 1873 and settled on a farm about a mile south east of town which was their home until, in more recent years, they retired and moved to town. Mr. Perry passed from this life April 2, 1907. Mrs. Perry remained in her own home for abut a year after his death, then she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Chas. McBarnes and family at Carroll, Ia., where she made her home until she passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 3, 1918, aged 87 years and 6 months. Mrs. Perry was a kind and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and true friend. She was of a quiet unassuming disposition but her noble character won for her many warm friends who will always remember her with love. She leaves to mourn their loss two sons, Fred C. and Nelson of Colo, one daughter Mrs. Ada McBarnes of Carroll, thirteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Phoebe Glann and and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the U. E. church at Colo Saturday at 10 a. m. conducted by Rev. W. C. McKinley who chose as his text, "To live is Christ, to die is gain," Phil. 1:21. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Colo cemetery. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McBarnes and son Rex of Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Perry and son Kenneth and Mr. Frank Perry of Winnebago, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mumert of Cherokee. Sincere sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones.
