McALLEN, Texas — Stephen (Steve) Carr died peacefully at his winter home at Adobe Wells Park in McAllen, TX, on April 14, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane (Barr) Carr of Clear Lake, IA, his daughter, Cheron Lyn Carr of Madison, WI, and stepdaughter, Michelle Annette Mark of Roswell, GA, 2 brothers, Phillip (Jeannie) Carr of Sparks, NV, Donald (Kathleen) Carr of Priest River, ID, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Carr, father Herbert Carr and mother Phyllis (Davidson) Carr.

Steve was born Dec. 21, 1940, in Ames, IA, and attended Ames High School and Iowa State University where he majored in Landscape Architecture. He worked in Roadside Development for the Iowa D.O.T. until he and his wife, Diane, purchased the Oaks Golf Course in Ames, and operated it for 16 years until they retired to Clear Lake, IA.

Steve was a loving husband and father and a loyal friend to many. He was an avid golfer and bowler and a past Worshipful Master of the Lodge in the Masonic Temple. Steve enjoyed spending winters in McAllen, TX, and spent the last 15 years in Clear Lake IA.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held May 10, 2016, at 4 p.m. at First Methodist Church, 516 Kellogg Ave., Ames, IA.
