OBITUARY

DAVID B. FERGUSON

David B. Ferguson, son of John R. and Sarah Ferguson, was born Aug. 14, 1876, south of Maxwell in Story County and died in Nevada May 21, 1919 of tuberculosis, aged 43 yrs. 9 mos. and 2 days. He lived and grew to manhood at his home near Maxwell.

He was united in marriage to Miss Francis Huffman May 15th 1901. To this union were born eight children, one of which died in infancy.

Just a few weeks ago I learned of his illness and went to visit him. I soon found out that he was without Christ. He soon became impressed with his condition in life, realizing that he was a lost man. After reading and praying and explaining the word of God to him he laid hold of God by faith and found Him precious to his soul. How he plead with his faithful wife to give her heart to God. She too became much impressed, and when I returned a few days afterward, and prayed with her, she accepted Christ as her Savior, I baptized Bro. Ferguson and received him into the United Evangelical church of Nevada, and later received sister Ferguson into church fellowship, and administered the communion of the Lord's supper to them both. Just the day previous to his death he sent for me to come over, that he wanted to see me. When I arrived, he said he wanted to give me good bye. I read to him, "Let not your heart be troubled, I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again,m and receive you not myself, that where I am there ye may be also." He looked up and said, "Then I will be with Jesus." The evidence he leaves behind is that he has gone to be with Jesus.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a faithful and grief-stricken widow, 7 children, 3 brothers, John E. of Aurora, Ill., Charlie, who lives near Grove City, Minn., Mert, of Vye, Nevada, 5 sisters, Mrs. Goetz, Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Fannie Hoskins, Cambridge, Iowa, Mrs Babel, Blunt, South Dakota, Mrs. Eva Dils, St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. A. V. Hemstock of Nevada, and a number of friends and relatives. May God abundantly comfort the bereaved.

Funeral was Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the United Evangelical church, in charge of the pastor Rev. M. E. Shank, interment in the Nevada cemetery.

The family hereby wishes to express their hearty thanks to all who, in this time of sore bereavement have been with them and have with words and kindly deeds tried to lessen their sorrow.
