Died: March 30, 2016P. Colleen Jensen, nee Alexander, 87, of DeKalb, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
Born November 2, 1928, in Pollock, Missouri, the daughter of R. John Alexander and Zelphia (Yardley) Alexander, Phyllis married Charles H. ‘Chuck’ Jensen on July 25, 1948, in Ames, Iowa.
Known as Colleen by her family and friends, she graduated from Ames High School in 1947. She and Chuck lived in Osage, Ames, and Madrid, Iowa before moving to DeKalb in 1965.
Colleen worked at Northern Illinois University in the History Department and then the Chemistry Department before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1965 where she was still active in the Women’s Circle. She was also a member of the DeKalb Women’s Club and the YMCA where she loved to swim. Volunteering at Kishwaukee Hospital and Delivering Meals on Wheels was an important part of her life before Chuck died. Colleen enjoyed traveling throughout her life, she visited all of the lower 48 states and also visiting Norway, Denmark, France, Germany and Italy. She loved to read, sew, garden, bake, and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and many family members, but especially, her great grandson, Jack.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Jane) Jensen of Grayslake, Susan (Ken) Doubler of DeKalb, Penny (Paul) Milnamow of Elgin; grandchildren, Michael (Lindy-Tsetseranos) Milnamow of West Dundee, Stephanie Milnamow of Elgin, Patrick (Kristin Crichton) Milnamow of Elgin, Alexander Jensen of Grayslake; step-granddaughter, Karyn Doubler of Cortland; great grandson, Jack Charles Romano Milnamow of Elgin; brothers, Ron (Tae Sun) Alexander of Huntsville, Alabama, Jerry (Mattie) Alexander of Punta Gorda, Florida; sisters, D. Louise Irvin of Ames, Iowa, Marilyn Van Pater of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Kaye (Howard) Jensen of Hugo, Minnesota, Patty (Harris) Jensen of Dallas, Texas; and many beloved, nieces and nephews from around the country and the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1994; parents; brothers, R. Dean Alexander, infant brother, DeRoy Alexander, J. Carroll Alexander, Billie Alexander; sister, Ruby Frangos; brother-in-laws, James Jensen, Howard Jensen, Harris Jensen, Angie Frangos; and nephew, Steven Alexander.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb , with the Rev. Blake Richter officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Jensen Memorial Fund, for Westminster Presbyterian Church, DeKalb Public Library, or Oak Crest Retirement Center Good Samaritan Fund addressed to the Jensen Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O.
