David Mellows, age 53, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his residence in Ames, IA.

David Charles Mellows was born Jan. 19, 1963 in Marshalltown. He was one of five children born to Charles and Laura (Clements) Mellows.

David attended Hubbard Community School and graduated from Meservey-Thornton Community School in 1981. He attended NIACC for one year.

He served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987. After he was Honorably discharged from the Navy, David worked for Winnebago in Hampton, GFS in Nevada for one year, and part-time at McDonald's in Ames for 16 years. David enjoyed being a volunteer at the library.

David died at his home in Ames Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

David will be missed by everyone who knew him for his easy smile, quick wit, gentle manner and gregarious personality. Friends will miss his smile, his friendship, his love, and his jokes! He was a great example of God's "Butterfly Effect".

He is survived by his father Charles Mellows of Ames; sisters Sue Mellows (Shelton Smith) of Denver, Colorado, Joyce Strong (Clyde) of Gilbert, Connie Banta (Jerry) of Golden City, Missouri; brother Michael Mellows (Linda Kingsbury) of Nevada; seven nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; along with other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Mellows.
