Raymond E. Long

Raymond Ernest Long, 82, of Nevada died of cancer at his home Tuesday.

He was born in Lake City and lived in Nevada for 29 years. He retired from Iowa State University, and was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife Ruth (White) Long of Nevada; a son, Hal, of Nevada; four grandchildren; three step daughters, Joyce Harles of Martinsdale, Lucille Medici of Granger and Carol Herrell of Granger, 10 step grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; a sister Gladys Martin of Toledo; and two sisters-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Fulkerson) Long; two sons, Larry and Greg; a brother, Bernard, and a sister, Viola.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1030 a.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada. Burial will be at the Nevada Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 9 p.m., Thursday. The family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m.
