From Nevada Representative July 29, 1891

Death of T. J. Adamson.

Thirty years ago there was no man better known in Story county than "Uncle Tommy" Adamson. His genial ways with all the children included, served to give him wide personal acquaintance, and he lived here at a time when it was possible for one--at least for a merchant--to know all the people in the county. He was one of the early merchants in Nevada, his house being an active rival of the Pioneer Store of Mr. Alderman. He was Treasurer and Recorder in the early days, an active Republican, and a generous and public spirited citizen.

He was reared in the society of Friends, but that did not prevent two of his sons serving in the war for the Union. He went to Holton, Kansas, in 1860, where he died, at the home of his son, Dr. Adamson, of the 9th instant, full of years, and beloved most by those who knew him best.
