Margaret "Peg" Louise McCollom, 90, of Ames, formerly Colo, passed away January 3, 2016, surrounded by her family, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Peg will be cremated with a private burial service to follow.

Peg was born June 24, 1925, in Ames, Iowa, to Gerald and Hazel Eller, the oldest of five children, along with brothers: Robert, Ronald, Donald and John. On December 7, 1944, she was married to John Clifton McCollom at the Methodist Parsonage in Colo, Iowa. Peg and John were blessed with their children, Richard (deceased), Robert (Judy) McCollom, Jane (Randy) Ambrozic, and Michael McCollom whom they raised on their family farm just east of Colo. In addition to her children, Peg is survived by two grandchildren, Shawn (Stephanie) McCollom, and Ryan (Karla) McCollom, three step grandchildren, Cori (John) Stack, Kristin (William) Diaz-Garcia, and Erik Ambrozic; in addition she is survived by great-grandchildren Quin, Bailee, Hattie, Henry and George McCollom and Bennet and Alexander Stack.

Preceding Peg in death were her husband John; parent; four brothers; and one son.

The family would like to thank Bickford Assisted Living of Ames, for caring for their mother the last few years; as well as the staff of Mary Greeley Medical Center for their care and kindness to Peg in her last days.

Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
