Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Kathleen Hia Walker was born on January 22, 1930 to Selmer and Hazel (Jacobson) Hia in Randall, Iowa. She graduated from Randall High School in 1947. Kathleen was an outstanding athlete in basketball and held the scoring record at Randall High for many years. She went on to marry Walter “Bo” Walker, who had a wonderful career in the US Air Force, and they traveled worldwide. Kathleen’s passion for music was ongoing. All of her life, Kathleen directed and sang in church choirs and military vocal groups.

Kathleen and Bo retired in Des Moines and devoted much love and care to their children and six grandchildren.

Kathleen passed away at 85 years of age on January 20, 2016 at Trinity Center Luther Park in Des Moines.

Those left to cherish Kathleen’s memory include her three children, Steven (Linda) Walker of Des Moines, Walter (Billie) Walker of Stayton, Oregon and Becky Cunningham of Des Moines; and six grandchildren, Jacob Walker, Mattei Walker, Lucas Walker, Bridgett Walker, Adam Cunningham and Sam Cunningham.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bo; and one sister, Charlotte Hia Loftstedt.
