Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

John Charles Ose, 63, passed away December 16, 2015 at his home in Ames. Private family graveside services will be held at the Story City Cemetery.

John was born on December 2, 1952 to Edgar M. and Jean (Dunham) Ose. He spent his youth in Story City, graduating from Roland-Story High School. John attended and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Advertising Art. During his time as a student at ISU, John served on the core planning committee of VEISHA and volunteered his artistic abilities for promotional material for the student run celebration. John’s artistic talent also led to him being selected for the Iowa State University Honors Program in the art department.

Following graduation, John relocated to Denver, Colo. where he was employed in the media department for the Emily Opportunity School. Following the onset of illness in his 20’s, John was welcomed to live with his parents and later placed in his own apartment through the Community Life Program in Ames. The guidance and support he received from so many through the program enabled him to work in several jobs and remain independent. John will be fondly remembered for his artistic talent and his kind and generous soul.

John’s immediate survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Jo and Steve Anderson of Story City; his nephew, Ben Anderson of Bellingham, Wash.; and his niece and her family, Kate, Jake, Brayton, and Parker Schleisman, Ankeny.

The family wishes to thank the kind and understanding individuals, who, through the years, befriended John, and were instrumental in advocating on his behalf. Their support preserved his independence, well being and dignity.
