From Nevada Representative May 8, 1889

Sudden Death.

The sudden and wholly unexpected death of Mr. Frank L. Ogden, which occurred at his home in Nevada last Sunday at 1 P. M. after a noticeable illness of only six or seven hours, came as a shock to the whole community as well as his immediate friends. His death was occasioned by apoplexy which came with little or no warning, he having worked on his farm as usual the day previous.

Mr. Ogden was born in Montrose, Penn. in 1835. When a lad he moved with his parents to Orleans county, New York, where he remained until early manhood, when he came to Illinois. At Freeport that State in 1864 he was married to Sallie E. Rodearmel who with one son, Eugene, a young man of eighteen survives him. He came to Iowa twenty years ago last Saturday and has continuously resided in Nevada since. Mr. Ogden was a man of generous impulses and kindly sympathies. The brusque, rough manner he sometimes assumed always covered up a kindly nature. He was one of the kindest and best of neighbors. he was fond of children and children were fond of him. He will be greatly mourned in his family and the friends that sincerely regret his death are many. His funeral was very largely attended yesterday at 10 A. M. and conducted by Rev. Mr. Ferguson assisted by Revs. Reid, Ziegler, Danner, Fegtly and Coyle. The hearse bearing his remains, in accordance with a wish sometime expressed, was drawn by one of his own teams and in other matters connected with the obsequies a simplicity in harmony with his known wishes was thoughtfully observed. Mrs. Ogden and son, desire to express heartfelt thanks for the great kindness and sympathy shown them in this their time of sorrow.
