We learn, just as we go to press of the death of D. S. Snyder which and even occurred at 2:30 this afternoon. Mr. Snyder was one of our much respected citizens and his loss will be deeply felt.

--Mrs. D. S. Snyder and family desire herein to express their sincere gratitude to friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted them in their recent days of bereavement.

Obituary.

David S. Snyder, who departed this life at his home in this city last Wednesday, February 6, 1889, was born in Orrstown, Franklin county, Pennsylvania, April 10, 1826. When a young man he left the State of his birth and located at Gambier and Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Thence in 1869 he came to Nevada, Iowa, where he has since remained. He was twice married, the first marriage taking place in 1849 and the second in 1863. His second wife and eight children, most of them grown to worthy manhood and womanhood, survive him. In his fellowship relations he was an honored brother in the Masonic and Odd Fellow fraternities, and for forty years an exemplary member of the Methodist church. The sickness which caused his death was of about five months duration, and was borne with becoming fortitude. Mr. Snyder during his twenty years residence in Nevada won the sincere respect of his fellow citizens who deplore his loss and extend sympathy by his wife and children.

At the meeting of Nevada Lodge No. 99 A. F. and A. M., the following resolutions were adopted and entered in minutes of said meeting:

WHEREAS, the Supreme Architect of the Universe in his infinite wisdom has called our esteemed brother David S. Snyder from the Lodge here below to that undissolving Lodge on high, therefore be it

Resolved: That in his death Nevada Lodge No. 99 A. F. and A. M. has lost a consistent and exemplary member, his family a devoted husband and father, the community a good and honorable citizen.

That we mourn the decease of our departed brother and deeply sympathize with his family in their sad bereavement.

That the Lodge be draped in mourning for thirty days in respect to his memory.

That these resolutions be spread upon the record of the Lodge, and published in each of the local newspapers and a copy presented to the family of the deceased.

The following resolutions were adopted by Central Iowa Lodge 104 I. O. O. F., Nevada, Iowa:

WHEREAS, In view of the loss we have sustained by the decease of our brother, David S. Snyder, and of the heavier loss sustained by those who were nearest and dearest to him, therefore be it

Resolved, That we sincerely condole with the family of the deceased on the dispensation with which it has pleased Divine Providence to afflict them, and commend them for consolation to Him who orders all things for the best, and whose chastisements are meant in mercy.

That the heartfelt testimonial of our sympathy and sorrow be forwarded to the family of our departed brother, and

That these resolutions be spread upon the records of the lodge, and a copy thereof be transmitted to the family of our deceased brother, and to each of the newspapers of Nevada.
