Heman Downing Shugart whose death on Tuesday March 30th was announced last week, was born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois June 19th, 1863. He removed with his parents to Story county in 1871 and lived here thereafter until his death at the age of 23 years, 9 months and 23 days. The funeral was held at the house, Thursday afternoon, Rev. R. A. Ferguson conducting the services. The funeral was largely attended, and a long procession followed the remains to their last resting place in the Nevada Cemetery. He was an exemplary young man and his death is sincerely regretted by his friends and associates.
