Allison Kristine Wright Backstrom, 34, of Ames, died in a car accident in rural Utah on October 29, 2015. She was born on October 27, 1981 to Mark Wright and Kristine Buttermore. Allison grew up in Des Moines and was a 2000 graduate of Walnut Creek High School. She received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. Allison worked as a Veterinary Technician and was currently employed at Pizza Hut while she was studying Forestry at Iowa State University and DMACC.

Allison loved music, especially Widespread Panic and Grateful Dead. She attended many music festivals and shows. Family was everything to Allison. She loved to laugh. She loved animals and people, alike, but above all, she loved her little girls, Johanna and Elaina.

Allison is survived by her daughters, Johanna and Elaina, and their father, Zachary Backstrom; parents, Mark (Tyra) Wright and Kristine Buttermore; siblings, Garin (Kristten) Buttermore, Madison Buttermore, Ashley Timmons, Lynette (Tom) Jacobs, and Amanda Rice; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and a multitude of extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don & Eunice Wright, and Paul and Velma Buttermore, and Jerry Garcia.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Merle Hay Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale
