March 11, 1933 - November 2, 2015

John Worley, resident of San Antonio, Texas, and longtime resident of Ames, Iowa, died November 2nd of a massive stroke at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

John was born in Temple, Oklahoma, and grew up in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Northeast High School. He received a BA Degree at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and a Masters of Hospital Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He served in the United States Air Force Medical Service Corp from 1957-1960 where he completed his residency in Hospital Administration at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

John worked as a Hospital Administrator in Kingston, New York, and in Indianapolis, Indiana, before serving as the Hospital Administrator at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa from 1970 to 1988.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in San Antonio, Texas, where his ashes will be placed in the columbarium. John volunteered in Kairos Prison Ministries for many years and served on numerous civic and church boards.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Wetzel Worley; Son Lt Col John Gregory Worley (ret), daughter-in-law Barbara, and Grandson Craig Robert Worley; Brother James Worley; Sisters-in-Law Kathleen Worley and Carolyn Malmquist; two nieces and three nephews.
Memorials in his honor may be sent to: Good Samaritan Community Services, 1600 Saltillo Street, San Antonio TX 78207 (a San Antonio based organization dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome poverty)
