Olive Batcher, 92, of Ames, passed away October 26, 2015 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Her wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services.

Olive M. Batcher was born January 10, 1923 to Ralph R. and Lois (Hill) Batcher in Jamaica, New York. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and then a Master's degree from Michigan State University. Olive worked as a food scientist for the United States Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland from 1954 until her retirement in 1983. Olive moved to Ames in 1986 and was a member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church. Her professional affiliations included the American Home Economics Association, the Institute of Food Technologists, Sigma Xi, and Kappa Omicron Nu.

Olive is survived by her sister, Elinor Ashley of Olympia Fields, IL; and two brothers, Kenneth E. Batcher of Stow, OH and William H. Batcher of Calverton, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother.
