From Nevada Representative August 20, 1884

DIED.--Of cholera infantum, on Tuesday, August 12th, at the home of its parents in Richland township, Vernie Elsie Roark, infant daughter of H. C. and Jennie Roark, aged 8 months and 28 days.

LINES ON THE DEATH OF VERNIE.

Oh, we miss her in the morning,
When the day begins to break;
We wait and watch and listen,
Waiting for her to wake.

But oh she wakes not here.
She is in a dreamless sleep;
She has gone from pain forever,
And left us here to weep.

But in the day that is coming,
That our feet run swift to meet;
Our darling from the skies will come
With face and voice so sweet.

And the family that was happy here,
Shall be gathered with her there;
And shall live in heaven forever,
With the good the pure and fair.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Verna Elsie Roark was the daughter of Henry Clay Roark and Mary Jane "Jennie" Dawson.
