From Nevada Representative October 17, 1883

Iowa Center.

....There is a good deal of sickness in and about town among the children, mostly scarlet rash; no cases of which proved fatal until about half past twelve sabbath morning, Oct. 14th, when Eugene H. Earl, the little step-son of Isaac Bruner passed away after a distressing sickness of three days, with what the doctors called the scarlet fever, combined with congestion of the brain. The funeral was held in Colo Monday at 11 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Skogsberg conducting the services.

Died.

Oct. 14, 1883, Iowa Center, Eugene H. Earl, young stepson of Isaac Bruner of scarlet fever and congestion of the brain. To his weeping mother a friend commends these words:

Although he may not return, but to him thou shalt go.
When thy days are numbered and finished here below;
And it may to thy angel child be given
First to meet and to welcome his mother to heaven.
And there, reunited to part never more.
One song shall ye sing and one Savior adore.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The deceased, Eugene H. Earl, was the son of Eugene H. Earl and and Susan Hemping. Susan Hemping married (1) Eugene Earl on 22 November 1875 in Story County, Iowam, (2) Isaac Burner on 13 April 1882 in Iowa Center, Story County, Iowa and (3) Henr
