Mrs. Leona Davies

Bertha Leona, daughter of Charles and Phoebe Mead, was born in Story county, Iowa, January 14, 1882 and departed this life December 6, 1915, age 33 years, 10 months and 22 days. She was united in marriage to Marion Boydston Oct. 18, 1905 who was called from this earth January 24, 1912. On October 31, 1914 she was united in marriage to L. E. Davies of this city. She was born and grew to womanhood in this vicinity and will be sadly missed by all. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, mother and two brothers, LeRoy and Charles of Collins and two sisters Minnie Hanson of Collins and Etna M. Jones of Norman, Okla. Besides other relatives and a host of friends. When but a girl she was converted and joined the Methodist Protestant Church and was ever a faithful member, taking an active part in the church, Sunday School and prayer meeting, and being always read to do what she could to aid her church. Leona was a good girl and a kind loving wife. While she was not permitted to live very long in her beautiful home she was dutiful, cheerful and happy at all times. But the Angel Death came and called this dear one from our midst.

The funeral services were held at the ours at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. Butterfield pastor of the M. P. church, officiating. The singers were Mrs. Eva Carver, Mrs. Pearl Harrington, Mrs. Alma Harsh, Mrs. Clara Serbein and the Misses Pearl and Bessie Carver, with Miss Ethel Carver at the piano. It was her request that the above would sing. The pall bearers were W. H. Thompson, O. H. Patterson, G. F. Holland, M. H. Biddick, Chas. Sanders and Oscar Serbein. The floral tributes were very many and beautiful and in only a small way went to show the high esteem in which she was held.
