The following was clipped from the Marshalltown Times-Republican of Jan. 3. Both of the women have lived southeast of Colo in former years and still have many friends in Story County who are grieved to learn of their death.

The death of two State Center women occurred this morning that of C. A. Ficken at 12:15 a. m. at Deaconess hospital of hemorrhage of the brain, and that of Mrs. Emma C. Linn at 1:15 a. m. at the home of Frank Linn at State Center.

Mrs. Ficken was born Ida Harrendorf, [---] 37 years old [-----] [at the Harrendorf home, about six miles southwest of State Center, September 24, 1881 and nearly all her life has been spent in and near State Center.

She was united in marriage to Charles Ficken November 21, 1901. The union proved to be a harmonius and happy one. To this union four children were born to them. They are Ronald, Ildra, Ilma and Gerhard Ficken.

Mrs. Ficken was in fairly good health until very recently and no one anticipated her untimely end. She submitted to an operation for hernia and though the operation was a success, a former trouble, high blood pressure appeared in an aggravated form. She died of hemorrhage of the brain at 12:15 last Thursday morning.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, four children, three sisters and brothers: Mrs. Fred Nolta, Mrs. Wil]liam Smith and Mrs Henry Janes and Fred, August and Henry Harrendorf, all living in or near State Center. The funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 o'clock from the Fred Nolta residence and at 1:30 from St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church in charge of Rev. J. G. Oltman. Burial will be in Hillside.

Mrs. Linn died from hardening of the arteries with which she had been ill for a year. She was born in Lowden county, Virginia, April 17, 1837. Two children survive her in the persons of Frank and Clyde Linn, both of State Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church in charge of Rev. Thomas P. Potter. Burial will be in Hillsdale.
